Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV L Lysvollhaugen, Hemnekjølen

254 Squadron RAF serial L9408 code QY-F 15.06 1940

Two Blenheims took off from Sumburgh Shetland at 09:45. Destination Trondheim harbour. There they were attacked by two Messerschmitts The other Blenheim managed to escape, but this one was shot down at 12.45 hrs by Ltn.Bender and Helmut Lent of 1/ZG 76. Crew: P/O Peter Carrington Gaylard (KIA) -Sgt.Colin Antony Campbell Burran (KIA) -Sgt.John David Wickes (KIA). They were buried in a marsh at the crash site during the war, later buried at Stavne Cemetery.

Angrepet og skadeskutt av 2 tyske jagere. Flyet mistet stadig høyde og droppet bombelasten ved Hammerkleiva. Styrtet brennende i myra og eksploderte. En av flygerne ble funnet stående på hodet ned i myra.
