"Black Friday" The air fight over Sunnfjord 09.02 1945

32 Bristol Beaufighters of the "Dallachy Strike Wing", supported by twelwe Mustangs of 65 Sqdn RAF took off to attack German ships at Førdefjord.They were intercepted by a force of 16 Fw.190 of JG 5, based at fliegerhorst Herdla. Ten allied and five German planes were shot down. A total of 16 pilots lost their lives. Five allied air men became PoW's. In addition eight German sailors lost their lives
