Fw. Hüllenhütter performed a successful emergency landing on sea due to engine problems. He jumped into the sea before the aircraft sank. Søren Fjæran vitnessed the incident, rowed out and picked up the pilot from the water. On 29.May Uffz.Hüllenhütter(I./JG5) ditched his FW 190 A-3 (Yellow 3) again. On 7. October the same year, Uffz.Hüllenhütter finally ran out of luck, when his Bf 109 G-2 (WNr.10806) crashed in sea SW of Egersund.

The aircraft was discovered again in 1966 at a dept of 20m just off Orsand camping. In summer 1974 the a/c was raised by divers from Draugen in cooperation with Imperial War Museum. The aircraft was in a bad state, parts of it were used in restoring other Messerschmitts at the museum.
